Фактори індивідуального рівня, що впливають на явку виборців на вибори до Європарламенту 2014 року

Анотація. Участь громадян ЄС у виборах до Європейського парламенту значно нижча, ніж у національних виборах, і значно відрізняється в країнах-членах ЄС. Ця стаття спрямована на з'ясування факторів, які впливають на участь громадян ЄС у виборах до Європейського парламенту. Дослідження окреслює теоретичні підходи до розуміння феномену виборів до Європейського парламенту та припущення дослідників щодо факторів, які можуть впливати на виборчу активність громадян. Відповідно до теорії виборів другого порядку Карлхейнца Рейфа та Германна Шмітта, громадяни сприймають вибори до Європейського парламенту як менш важливі, ніж національні вибори, що призводить до меншої участі. Однак на поведінку виборців також може впливати низка факторів, які можуть розглядатися як мотивація на індивідуальному рівні (довіра до національних та європейських органів влади, ставлення до інституцій ЄС тощо). За допомогою методу бінарної логістичної регресії було визначено, які чинники вплинули на участь громадян у виборах до Європейського парламенту 2014 року, та пояснено відмінності у виборчій діяльності громадян різних країн ЄС. Характер виявлених факторів, які впливають на участь громадян у виборах до Європейського Парламенту, говорить про те, що теорія виборів другого порядку актуальна й сьогодні.
