Численні попередні дослідження показали наявність позитивного зв’язку між часовою перспективою майбутнього та суб’єктивним благополуччям. У цій статті проаналізовано горизонт планування як один із вимірів часової перспективи майбутнього у його зв’язку із суб’єктивним благополуччям за умов війни та у відповідному контексті невизначеності щодо майбутнього. На даних соціологічного моніторинґу «Українське суспільство» 2024 року показано, що горизонт планування, операціоналізований як часовий проміжок, на який респонденти планують свої дії, позитивно асоційований із задоволеністю життям, проте цей зв’язок зумовлений впливом інших змінних і зникає в разі їх контролю.

Побудова низки моделей задля пояснення горизонту планування показала хибність інтуїтивного припущення про те, що за екстремальних кризових умов, які являє собою війна, баланс між укоріненими суб’єктивними настановами та впливом тимчасових обставин суттєво порушується на користь останніх. Суб’єктивні настанови, такі як оптимізм, локус контролю та очікування щодо майбутнього перебігу війни, мають значно більший вплив на горизонт планування, ніж неґативний досвід часів війни. Наявність неґативного досвіду часів війни в цілому не є чинником cкорочення горизонту планування, а деякі аспекти цього досвіду, насамперед досвід вимушеної міґрації, асоційовані з довшим горизонтом планування. Предиктори середньострокового планування (на термін від двох місяців до двох років) та довгострокового планування (на термін понад два роки) відрізняються, що може свідчити про різну природу цих різновидів планування.

Згідно з теоретичним припущенням, оскільки горизонт планування значною мірою відображає сприйману непевність обставин, він мав би опосередковувати ефект неґативного досвіду часів війни для суб’єктивного благополуччя. Проте аналіз медіації показав, що горизонт планування не опосередковує вплив цієї групи чинників, а також суб’єктивних настанов на задоволеність життям. Не є він і значущим незалежним чинником задоволеності життям.
